Votes at a glance: Edinburg CISD board approves consent items, construction change orders, personnel hires and governance coach

The Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees approved a slate of consent and action items during Tuesday’s meeting and completed several personnel actions after closed session.

Key approvals recorded on the public agenda (motion and second; voice/hand votes carried unless noted): - Consent agenda: passed (consent items not individually contested). - Midyear budget amendments for 2024–25 (general funds): approved. - Increase travel mileage reimbursement to state allowance: approved. - Purchase and installation of police-related equipment (bid/quote): approved. - Competitive-seal proposals and equipment for maintenance and operations, and multiple gymnasium addition and improvement contracts: board approved change orders that decreased contract amounts for several elementary‑school projects, returning funds to the budget.

After closed session the board announced these personnel approvals and related actions: Crystal Salinas, librarian for Lee Elementary (employment approved); Evelyn Flores, speech-language pathologist for Special Education (approved); Josie Herrera, assistant principal for Edinburg Alternative Education Academy (approved). The board also authorized the superintendent and legal counsel to proceed with actions discussed in closed session related to the recent retirement of Jesus Mata.

In closed session trustees also approved adoption of a governance framework and named Moe Casey as the governance coach to guide the board through a strategic governance model. All recorded motions carried by voice/hand vote as shown in the public minutes.
