The Jones County Board of Commissioners voted Feb. 4 to award the Union Hill Church Road bridge replacement to Gregory Bridge Company, which submitted the low bid.
County staff reported four bidders on Jan. 30 and said Gregory Bridge of Eaton was the low bidder at $721,870. Staff told the board that the Georgia Department of Transportation will cover 70% of the construction cost; county documents presented at the meeting showed the DOT share as the larger portion of the project and indicated the county’s remaining share would be approximately $205,61 (figure presented verbally as county cost share). The board approved the award during the meeting.
A commissioner moved and the board approved the motion to award the construction contract to Gregory Bridge Company for the Union Hill Church Road bridge replacement. No amendments to the motion were reported. The board’s approval authorizes staff to proceed with contract award and coordination with DOT on project funding and scheduling.
Ending: County staff said they will proceed to finalize the contract with Gregory Bridge and coordinate DOT-funded construction; the board confirmed the award by voice vote.
