Council authorizes mayor to sign water facilities franchise with Auburn
Summary

Joe Rakto, utility engineer in Public Works, presented a water facilities franchise the city received from the City of Auburn. Rakto showed maps of water service boundaries and said Kent’s water service area extends beyond the southern city limit into parts of unincorporated territory and adjacent jurisdictions, so a franchise agreement with Auburn is standard practice.
Council moved to authorize the mayor to sign and accept the franchise subject to final terms acceptable to the public works director and city attorney. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
No changes to rates or service terms were discussed at the meeting; staff said final terms and conditions will be negotiated and accepted prior to signature.
