Doral mayor announces 2025 community grant cycle, family events and Lake Drive workshop

Mayor Kristy Fraga in her monthly message announced that the 2025 community-based organization grant cycle is open and reminded nonprofits that applications close March 7. She also outlined family-focused February events and a neighborhood workshop on proposed Lake Drive roadway improvements near 70 Ninth Avenue.

The grant application process is “fully digital, easy, fast, and transparent,” Fraga said, and she encouraged organizations to visit the city website for details. The mayor’s message emphasized that the city posts a full events calendar under the website’s Events tab.

Fraga highlighted several events aimed at families and residents. The annual “Camping Under the Stars” event will return to Doral Central Park; the mayor said it will offer an evening of outdoor activities and family bonding. For Valentine’s Day, the city will hold a picnic and market featuring local vendors and food. Residents and businesses near 70 Ninth Avenue were urged to attend a Lake Drive Roadway Improvements Community Workshop where the city will share proposed solutions and solicit feedback.

Fraga also noted that the Doral Government Center will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Presidents’ Day but said many services remain available online. She closed the message by inviting residents to stay connected through the city’s social media channels and website, adding, “I’m your mayor, Kristy Fraga, and I’m looking forward to seeing you out there in our city.”
