Summary
The Board of Adjustment elected officers for the year — Adam McAfee as vice chair and William Guess as chair — and staff reported five cases currently on appeal in the courts.
At the close of the Feb. 3 meeting the Mobile City Board of Adjustment elected officers and received an update on pending appeals.
A motion to elect Adam McAfee as vice chair passed following a second; the chair then accepted a motion to re-elect William Guess as chair and the board approved after a second. During the chair vote one member noted they would recuse themselves from voting on the chair while the board formalized the result.
Planning staff reported there are five board decisions currently on appeal, including cases identified in the meeting as Reginald Hill, Griffith Shell v. Old Dolphin Way, the Saint Ignatius Cemetery matter, Renita Smith (loop area), and Russell Investments (storage building in Spring Hill service road). Two of the appeals are set for trial in the spring, and staff said there had been no new activity since the previous month’s report.
No formal board action was taken on the appeals status; the report was for the public record and administrative update.
