Staff said the technical committee will focus on unresolved issues such as whether to limit particular system sizes and how to set distance requirements; if the committee resolves some items quickly, the group may return those issues to the full planning commission the same evening. The upcoming technical meeting is expected to be held at the county EMA building to allow more public space.
Commission staff also noted proposed bills at the state legislature that, if enacted, might shift solar siting authority from local governments toward state-level decision-making. The chair said he was not an expert on the state process but advised stakeholders to provide committee-level input early if they want to shape outcomes.
No ordinance or final rule was adopted at the meeting; staff said future public hearings would be scheduled after the planning commission finalizes a proposal.
