Votes at a glance: Arlington council approves cemetery board appointment, emergency well pump procurement and consent agenda

The Arlington City Council approved several routine and emergency items in a single meeting: reappointment of a cemetery board member, authorization of an emergency pump purchase for the Heller Wellfield, and consent agenda approval.

Appointment: The council moved to reappoint Deanne Bennett to the Arlington City Cemetery Board. Jim Kelly, presenting the appointment, said Bennett “has been a member of that board for over 3 years” and is active in ensuring the cemetery serves the community. A motion to approve the appointment carried by voice vote.

Heller Wellfield emergency procurement: City staff presented a resolution declaring an emergency and authorizing the city to procure a replacement pump for Well 3A after the installed unit became “sand bound.” Staff said they removed the old pump and Pump Tech advised that the unit is too old to rebuild and recommended purchasing a new pump; ordering directly from Pump Tech would yield delivery in about six weeks. City staff also noted the city is publicly bidding replacement work for Pump 3B. The council voted to approve the emergency declaration and authorized the mayor to sign the resolution.

Consent agenda: The council approved the consent agenda by voice vote earlier in the meeting.
