Councilmembers and the mayor used the Nov. 12 Twinsburg City Council meeting to thank residents and volunteers after the passage of Issue 19, a comprehensive update to the city’s zoning code.
Councilmember Bellin, who led the working-group effort, said the measure was “near and dear to my heart” and thanked residents and committee members Rebecca Ziegler and Lynn Mueter for their work. “I would like to thank the residents of Twinsburg for passing issue 19 at the ballot,” Bellin said.
Councilmember Post and other members echoed those thanks at the meeting. Post said he was “happy everybody, in my opinion, voted the right way.” Mayor Scafidi and other officials said the administration is preparing to implement the code changes and will proceed with the steps needed to put the new rules into operation.
Officials described Issue 19 as the city’s first comprehensive zoning overhaul in decades—in council discussion they referenced updating a code that had not been fully revised since 1989—and said additional work remains to finalize administrative procedures and ensure the new regulations are ready to enforce.
Councilmembers said they expect zoning implementation to be ongoing and to require further review; no council action was taken at the Nov. 12 meeting other than public expressions of thanks and a commitment to follow-up work by staff and committees.
