The Sylvania City Council took the following formal actions at its Feb. 3 meeting. All measures listed below were approved as emergency measures unless otherwise noted.
• Resolution No. 3-2025 — Rename City Hall the Craig A. Stough Municipal Building. Passed by roll-call; all seven council members voted yes.
• Ordinance No. 16-2025 — Award contract for Silica Drive, Summit Street and Geary Street resurfacing to Henry W. Bergman, Inc.; appropriation and authorization for $511,417. Introduced by Mr. Richardson; approved by voice vote.
• Ordinance No. 17-2025 — Authorize purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3,500 HD chassis from Dave White Chevrolet; appropriation of $45,428. Introduced and approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 18-2025 — Accept proposal from Kaleida Truck Equipment for a stainless-steel dump package for a new 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3,500 HD; appropriation of $34,600. Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 19-2025 — Authorize purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2,500 HD 4WD from Dave White Chevrolet; appropriation of $51,385. Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 20-2025 — Accept proposal from Kaleida Truck Equipment for a liftgate package for a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2,500 HD; appropriation of $6,900. Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 21-2025 — Accept proposal of Axon Enterprise, Inc. to provide new tasers for Sylvania Police Department; appropriation of $160,980 (includes training and training cartridges; equipment rollout to assign an individual taser to each officer). Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 22-2025 — Approve three-year collective bargaining agreement commencing Jan. 1, 2025 with the Sylvania Police Command Officers Association (sergeants). Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 23-2025 — Approve three-year collective bargaining agreement commencing Jan. 1, 2025 with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 129 (patrol). Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 24-2025 — Enter into agreement with Lucas County Board of Commissioners for suburban court services and contribute local share; appropriation of $25,000. Approved as emergency.
• Resolution No. 25-2025 — Appoint Sean Murphy to the Board of Trustees of the Sylvania Area Joint Recreation District for calendar year 2025. Approved as emergency.
• Ordinance No. 26-2025 — Accept proposal of Edge Group for professional landscape-architecture services for River Center Park and City Hall signage; appropriation not to exceed $13,700. Approved as emergency.
Other procedural actions taken by the council included approval of the Jan. 21, 2025 meeting minutes and setting committee meetings: a Streets Committee meeting for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 in Council Chambers, and an Employee & Community Relations Committee meeting for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 in the police conference room to consider appointing a replacement to the Sylvania Area Joint Recreation District board.
