DUBUQUE, Iowa — The City Council on Monday set public hearings for Feb. 17, 2025 on two public works projects and adopted resolutions to initiate the bidding process.
Staff announced the city would initiate public bidding for the Southgate Drive sanitary sewer improvements project and the Fuel Island rehabilitation project and set public hearings for both on Feb. 17, 2025. A council motion to "receive and file, adopt the resolutions and set the public hearings for 02/17/2025" passed unanimously in roll call (motion passed 7-0).
Why it matters: Both projects are procurement steps to advance sanitary sewer repairs on Southgate Drive and to rehabilitate the city's Fuel Island facility. Setting the public hearings is the formal step to present plans, solicit public input and receive bids.
Councilors did not receive public comment on these items during the meeting; staff will publish bid documents and return with hearing testimony and recommended contract awards on Feb. 17, 2025.
