DUBUQUE, Iowa — The City Council on Monday heard two applicants in person and acknowledged multiple other board and commission applications submitted in writing.
Bob Woodward, 1048 Bonnie Court, addressed the council on his application for a four-year term on the Airport Commission through Sept. 14, 2028. Woodward described himself as a private pilot with a pilot’s license since 2019 and said he has experience on private and public boards. "I have an interest in aviation in general and the airport in particular... I am a private pilot," Woodward said, adding he hopes to contribute to the airport’s continued success and growth.
Tom Eckerman, 642 North Burton Avenue, spoke in support of his application for the Cable Television Commission (three-year term through July 1, 2027). Eckerman said he has 25 years of experience in stage, film and television production and wants to assist in evaluating PEG-equipment grant requests and to encourage community creative media. "My strongest asset would be, to help evaluate equipment requested for these grants," he said.
Council staff enumerated other open seats and applicants: Community Development Advisory Commission (low-to-moderate income representative applicants Talma Brown and Michelle Henke), Equity and Human Rights Commission (applicants Talma Brown and Tracy Phillipson), Investment and Cash Management Oversight Advisory Commission (Lucianne Pausian), Long Range Planning Advisory Commission (Jason Davis), Transit Advisory Board (Thelma Brown) and others. For several applicants who did not appear in person, staff noted written input had been submitted and was on file.
