Wright County approves personnel restructuring and appoints Jason Kreiser as county administrator

Wright County commissioners on Feb. 4 approved a set of personnel recommendations from a January 27 Committee of the Whole and adopted a resolution appointing Jason Kreiser as county administrator.
The personnel recommendations, which the board approved unanimously, included restructuring to add an assistant director of taxpayer services, moving certain overtime-authorized positions under the election manager, extending an existing ABDO contract, and developing job descriptions for a senior ERP product manager and an Oracle developer position. The board also authorized hiring a full-time staff position to fulfill departmental record-management responsibilities and directed staff to develop an administration organizational chart and job descriptions for records management. Commissioners said the changes are intended to improve recruitment and retention and reduce reliance on contracted services over time.
Commissioners discussed timing and budget treatment: some of the positions were allocated within department 100 during the budget cycle but detailed job descriptions were finalized after the budget process. "It would always be better to get these things in the budget so that we can plan for that," one commissioner said; staff said some funds had been set aside in department 100 to allow later job-definition decisions.
The board then considered a resolution appointing Jason Kreiser as Wright County Administrator and authorizing signatures on the employment contract and memorandum of understanding. The motion to appoint Kreiser was moved by Commissioner Moyna and seconded by Commissioner Shane; the resolution passed 4-1. Kreiser thanked the board after the vote, saying the appointment "truly is the highest honor" and that he looked forward to working with departments and implementing the board's vision.
