Development Director Lucas Hare told council the parcel is the subject of an application before the Planning & Zoning Commission; staff recommended the application be considered by P&Z and the commission will take it up at its February meeting.
Hare said the current zoning permits senior housing (44 independent living units and an assisted‑living facility under the existing PRD), and the new application would keep the parcel as a planned residential district (PRD) but allow the proposed multi‑family community. Hare told council staff has met with the developer multiple times — approximately four to six meetings over the prior four to five months — to review the proposal and guide submittal quality. Council members were advised that the full application materials and staff report are available in the agenda center for review ahead of the Planning & Zoning meeting.
Planning & Zoning will consider the rezoning at its next scheduled meeting; any favorable recommendation would then return to council for legislative action if required by the zoning process.
