Board approves two policies on second reading and passes consent agenda

The Peninsula School District Board of Directors approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda and adopted two policy second readings during its Feb. 4 meeting.
The board opened the meeting with a motion to approve the agenda; the motion was moved by a director identified as David and seconded by Jennifer, and the board chair announced the motion carried.
The consent agenda was moved by Chuck and seconded by Laurie and was approved without recorded opposition.
On formal action items, the board approved the second reading of policy 5.510 on retirement programs. The chair said the motion was moved by Jennifer and seconded by Chuck; the chair called for the ayes and announced the motion carried.
The board also approved the second reading of policy 5.407 (referred in the meeting as 5 4 0 7) on military leaves; the motion was moved by David and seconded by Laurie and the chair announced the motion carried.
Board members then heard first readings on several additional policies; these items were called and will return for second‑reading consideration at a subsequent meeting. The first readings included policies (as read aloud by staff) 4.120 (school support organizations); the renumbering and first read of policy 5.615 (to 5.281) on disciplinary action and discharge; 5.605 (renumbered to 5006) on certification revocation; 3510 on associated student bodies; 2.414 on community service; 05/2010 (renumbered to 5.020) on collective bargaining; 3.205 on harassment of students prohibited; 5.011 on harassment of district staff prohibited; and 5006/5280 on separation from employment.
The board was scheduled to consider second readings of those policies at the next meeting on Feb. 25.
