The Arts & Culture Board set a Jan. 31, 2025 deadline for nominations for the City of Littleton Arts & Culture Award and discussed how the board will evaluate candidates. Staff said nomination forms will be sent to board members and asked that each member submit a choice before the February meeting so the board can consolidate results and record its selection at the February session.
Board members debated selection mechanics. Several members proposed a pre‑meeting ranking system — each board member submits a top candidate in advance — to streamline the February discussion. Members also discussed whether the board should consider a nominee’s “body of work” rather than simply the volume of nominations, and suggested protecting the award’s quality by withholding it if no nominee meets the award criteria.
Staff said nominees will be invited to the awards event; board members discussed acknowledging runners‑up and ensuring nominees receive recognition even if they do not win. Staff will circulate nomination materials and asked board members to submit their selections before the Feb. 13 meeting so the group can document results as part of the public record.
The board agreed to an internal process for nominations and to return to the topic at the February meeting for formal action.
