Denver Water crews began replacing about 3,300 feet of aging water pipe on downtown Littleton streets this month, city and Denver Water representatives told the Littleton City Council on Feb. 4. The work is being staged in short nightly closures and phased to keep sidewalks and business access open where possible.
The update matters because the main runs under a downtown area that is expected to see additional construction; delaying the utility work would require tearing up new streetscape improvements later, officials said. The project team said the schedule and nightly work are intended to reduce daytime traffic disruption and minimize impacts to local businesses.
Jamie Price, owners’ representative with Matrix Design Group, told the council the project “kicked off this week” and that crews began work the first Sunday night.
