Project representatives told commissioners the work is about 60% complete and moving ahead on schedule. “Progress is going really well. We expect a certificate of occupancy about March 28, and then we’ll be moving folks in over the next couple of months after that,” Sal, a project representative for Lakes Region Community Developers, said.
The commissioners’ informational notice, read at the start of the hearing, said CDBG funds are available through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority and that projects funded by CDBG must directly benefit a majority of low‑ and moderate‑income persons. The notice identified the Lakes Region Community Development construction of 12 supportive housing units as the subject of the hearing and stated the project had received partial CDBG funding.
Project representatives said the development occupies two former buildings, one of which had been burned out and the neighboring building had been vacant for some time. Lakes Region Mental Health Services is named as the supportive services partner for the development.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. The commissioners closed the public hearing after receiving the update.
The county did not take a separate vote at the meeting on additional funding or approvals for the project; the hearing served to report progress and accept public comment.
