An official told commissioners the Darlington Brickyard cleanup — a project the county has worked on for about two years — appears not to move forward on the current funding list after recent executive action at the federal level. “According to our contractor, KU, it looks like that doesn't make the list right now to go forward,” the official said.
The county said it had obtained bids and that KU and prospective bidders were clarifying bid details; staff reported they “now have a good bid,” but advisory guidance suggested holding off on execution of a contract until the grant-status question is resolved.
No dollar amounts, contract award dates, or formal contract actions were given in the public session. Officials said they would wait for confirmation of grant allocation before finalizing a contract.
Later in the meeting commissioners recessed into an executive session for personnel and contract negotiation matters.
