Jeff Salt, chair of the Boating Advisory Council, opened the Feb. 4 meeting of the council organized by the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation by saying the session was intended “to kind of set the stage” for the group’s work on bylaws, strategic planning and public outreach.
The council spent most of the meeting discussing how narrowly the council should define its role and how it should use members’ volunteer time. Salt said he “envision[s] a lot of groundwork that needs to be done to get the structure set up,” and urged the group to keep bylaws flexible so they do not become “overbearing.”
