Senate Natural Resources committee adopts standing rules by voice vote

The committee adopted the proposed standing rules by voice vote. Vice Chair Melanie Scheibel moved to adopt the rules; Senator Ira Hansen seconded. Chair Cruz Crawford called for the voice vote: “All in favor signify by saying aye.” Members responded “Aye.” Chair Cruz Crawford then said, “Opposed, nay. The motion carries.”
The rules were described as largely consistent with the Senate’s standing rules and are posted in NELIS, the legislature’s electronic information system. Committee staff told members the rules complement the Senate standing rules adopted on the first day of session.
The adoption was procedural: the motion carried on a voice vote and no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript. The committee did not amend the posted rules during the meeting.
The committee will apply these rules for future hearings and business during the 2025 legislative session.
