At its Feb. 3 meeting, Gahanna City Council and the mayor’s office announced several staff and community updates, and the council adopted the consent agenda by unanimous roll call.
Mayor Chadwick announced that Jessica Curry has joined the city as a mental-health liaison (described in the meeting as from Sentaro). The mayor said Curry’s hiring had been budgeted previously and that Curry will help expand local mental-health connections and programs.
Visit Gahanna and council members highlighted upcoming community events: the Creekside Charity Chocolate Walk to benefit Give to Gahanna on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 5 p.m.; Visit Gahanna’s annual meeting on March 18 at 5:30 p.m. with speaker Roy Hall Jr.; and a procurement fair in partnership with Ohio MBE and the Gahanna Chamber on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., intended to help minority-, women- and small-business owners learn about certification and bidding opportunities. The mayor also noted Table Talk community conversations and two upcoming sessions at the Gahanna Golf Course Clubhouse.
Council received a school-district update (state of the schools) and was told a recording would be available on the district’s YouTube page. The mayor also noted a self-defense class offered by Lieutenant Kissel at the Kahana Senior Center and a civilian response training scheduled for March 8.
On the meeting’s procedural business, Councilmember Renner moved to approve the consent agenda as published; Vice President Weaver seconded. The clerk called the roll and the vote was recorded as: Renner — yes; Weaver — yes; Jones — yes; McGregor — yes; Padova — yes; Bowers — yes. The clerk announced, “Motion carries and the consent agenda is adopted as published.”
Council members used their remarks to thank volunteers and staff for recent weekend events (a women’s walk and related programs) and to reiterate support for community safety programming.
No binding policy changes were made in these announcements; the consent agenda was adopted as a single package and routine items included on that agenda were approved without separate discussion on the record.
