Nicollet County on Jan. 28 adopted a resolution accepting donations received in the fourth quarter of 2024 totaling $16,165.
Heather, finance staff, presented the donations list and asked the board to approve the resolution. "The donations for quarter 4 are within the resolution, and they include, with our van program for the veterans van, American Legion Auxiliary with a hundred dollar donation ..." Heather said, listing donors and amounts and noting a combined $1,220 in additional van-program donations.
Among larger gifts, Heather said Pembina donated $5,000 for sheriff's department dive equipment to help cover costs not paid by a previously approved grant, and a separate Pembina community investment donation of $8,500 went to public works for an expression swing at 7 Mile Park. Other donors included Minnesota Elevator ($600 to the Lighthouse on Marshall) and $695 in donations to the county's loan closet. Heather reported a total of $16,165 for the quarter and asked the board to approve by resolution; the board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll call.
During roll call Whitney recorded votes: Commissioner Kollars, Commissioner Dehen, Commissioner Zinns, Commissioner Hargett and Commissioner Drennell all voted yes, and the resolution passed.
The presentation linked some donations to earlier grant-funded equipment purchases for dive gear, and staff said the private gifts will cover portions of costs not covered by grants. No additional conditions or earmarks beyond those listed in the resolution were discussed at the meeting.
