But I've helped try to save lives in this county. We've saved a lot of lives, and we've lost lives too. But we was there trying to make the fight happen. I continue now as a County Commissioner to serve this County and continue on in that process. So I'm really not leaving you. I'm just going from 1 phase to the next."
Commissioners thanked Everhart for his service and noted the difficulty of long-term county employment in modern times. The recognition was ceremonial; no budgetary action was recorded tied to the retirement in the meeting minutes.
