The committee received an update from Assistant Superintendent Hines about a special‑education vacancy at Flippin Heights and a needed FMLA coverage assignment. The committee said the district has arranged coverage through a contracted provider (Boothby) and a retired teacher covering two days to address critical shortage areas.
Committee members also recapped that the payouts to former Superintendent Tucker had been settled and paid, and the committee noted that signers had processed those payments earlier in the day.
Business Administrator Vincent Simon Clary and Superintendent Chaplin discussed the 2025–26 budget timeline; staff said tentative dates would be confirmed and an updated schedule included in the next packet. The committee reviewed the department’s accounts‑payable and payroll review process and emphasized the multi‑step internal controls that include business office review, city hall verification and board signatures.
The committee said it will continue work on the budget and return with confirmed dates and a budget packet for board review.
