MPCA recommends targeted extensions for PFAS, lead and cadmium prohibitions while urging progress reports

MPCA recommendations: Kurt Koudelka, assistant commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, summarized the agency’s assessment of four product areas covered by the 2023 prohibitions and recommended targeted, time‑limited extensions in some categories where viable alternatives are limited today:

- PFAS in internal components of upholstered furniture and in small electronics components: MPCA recommended extending the compliance deadline to 2032 for internal electronics components (the agency said alternatives are currently limited but are in development).
