Board confirms three appointments and approves consent agenda, including Hub at 87 Main Street amendment

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners approved three appointments and adopted the consent agenda during its Feb. 4 meeting.

Appointments: Staff recommended, and the board appointed, Alex Posto to the Historic District Commission; Timothy Garvias and Joshua Gibbons to the Economic Development Advisory Committee; and Donald Bowen to the Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board (alternate). Each appointment was made by motion, second and voice vote. County staff noted that, following these appointments, vacancies will remain in some advisory roles (staff announced one remaining vacancy for the Economic Development Advisory Committee and one alternate vacancy on the Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board).

Ethics disclosure: County staff told the board that three commissioners had declared conflicts related to agricultural preservation matters; the county ethics commission advised that, because the conflicts otherwise would disqualify a quorum, the commissioners may participate in appointing advisory‑board members for agricultural preservation.

Consent agenda: The board adopted the consent agenda by voice vote. Items listed and approved under consent included: - Parks and Recreation prescribed burn plan agreement; - Department of Community Resources fiscal year 2025 "Engaging Neighborhoods" program (fiscal item); - Department of Community Resources HUB 87 Main Street budget amendment (added to consent and approved during the meeting).
