Board approves three motor-vehicle tax exemptions for local churches and Goodwill

The Lincoln County Board of Equalization approved three motor-vehicle tax exemption applications during its Feb. 3 session, authorizing tax-exempt use for vehicles held by local nonprofits and churches.
The board approved a Form 4-57 exemption for Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte for a 2013 Chevrolet Express van used for youth activities and church events. "This is used for youth activities and church events," the application notes; county treasurer Sherry Noon reviewed and recommended approval.
The board also approved an exemption for Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska in Grand Island for a February 2009 Mazda sedan used to transport clients to and from programs and training. The treasurer recommended approval.
Finally, the board approved a Form 4-57 for North Platte Baptist Church for a bus used to transport congregation members who otherwise lack transportation. Meeting discussion clarified the vehicle is a bus and that proof of color change for the old school bus had been provided.
Each application received a motion, a second and a roll-call vote approving the exemption. Commissioners noted that the treasurer had reviewed the paperwork before the approvals.
