Commission hears county engineer on Old Home Place plat, Rebuild Alabama resurfacing grant for Jackson Ferry Road and a contract extension

George Speak described the Old Home Place subdivision on Old McGee Road west of Butler Mill Road as a 20-acre parcel being divided into several lots: two 3-acre lots, two 4-acre lots, one 6-acre lot and a single-family estate lot, all fronting Old McGee Road. “The plant meets our regulations and their engineer, Brad Flowers, is here... as far as the county's concerned, it meets our regulations and recommended approval,” Speak said. The item was slated for the next agenda for formal consideration.
Speak also briefed the commission on a Rebuild Alabama Act grant application to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) for resurfacing Jackson Ferry Road from the city limits to the Alabama River Parkway. The resurfacing project is estimated at $243,000 and, if awarded, would be covered 100% by Rebuild Alabama funds with no local match required, Speak said.
Finally, Speak noted an amendment to extend contract 52200-22BDash003 with Industry Standard LLC through June 1, 2025. The extension was presented as an administrative matter; no formal vote or award was recorded in the transcript provided.
Commissioners asked a brief question about a bridge on the Jackson Ferry Road corridor; Speak said the bridge appeared to be in good condition.
