County schedules presentation of FY 2023–24 audit after auditor change

County manager Brian Eppley told the Board of Commissioners that Burke County’s fiscal year 2023–24 financial audit has been completed by Thompson Price, Scott & Adams and that the firm’s principal partner, Alan Thompson, will present the audit and compliance opinion letters at the next regular meeting after a weather delay.
Eppley said the county transitioned audit firms this year after roughly two decades with a different outside auditor. He described the new auditor’s work as thorough and said the audit committee — composed of the chairman, the county manager’s office and the finance office — reviewed the statements and recommendations. The audit will be formally presented by the auditor on the board’s next agenda and commissioners have the audit packet in their materials.
No formal action was taken on the audit at the pre‑agenda session; the item will remain on the regular meeting agenda for the auditor’s in‑person presentation.
