County property projects advance: Fairview abatement complete; interior demolition, plumbing under way

McLean County property staff reported progress on several facilities projects, including completion of abatement and air-quality testing at the Fairview Building and the start of interior demolition and plumbing replacement work.

Mr. Gaither, presenting the Property Department report, said the county "did complete the abatement of that building and had the air quality testing done, and that's been completed and passed." He said county staff are moving records out of the Fairview Building and relocating items approved for destruction by the state before interior demolition begins. Gaither added that "we've started the plumbing project within this building" and that crews were "currently working on the North end."

Gaither also reported construction progress on a new building referred to in the meeting as the Bridal Control building: "the new 1, is dried in. They're moving they're moving along well... They are getting close to start the drywall on the interior." Committee members praised staff and contractors for the work.

County Administrator Taylor distributed a contractor's report and said the exterior wrap "is going up on the east and northeast walls of the building" and that the project remained on schedule, with the administrator noting the county was "looking forward very much to this project being, in substantial completion on time in July."
