Bel Air recognizes two service members: auxiliary officer Scott Hogue and Officer Nicholas T. Rhodes

At the Feb. 3 meeting the town presented certificates of appreciation to Donald Scott Hogue of the Police Auxiliary and to Officer First Class Nicholas T. Rhodes for recent promotion to staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps; the board praised their service and noted auxiliary volunteers save the department overtime costs.
The Bel Air Board of Town Commissioners recognized two members of the town’s public-safety community during the Feb. 3 meeting.
Chief Moore (Bel Air Police Department) presented a certificate of appreciation to Donald Scott Hogue in recognition of his service in the Bel Air Police Auxiliary Unit since 2017. Chief Moore said Hogue volunteers at town events, assists on patrol, and saves the department substantial overtime costs; he noted that reserve volunteers who work 150 hours annually qualify for a tax credit under House Bill 646. Hogue’s service record cited military service (U.S. Marine Corps, 2005–2009), a Purple Heart for combat wounds sustained in Ramadi, Iraq (Feb. 2006), National Guard service and civilian degrees including a B.S. in Management and an M.S. in Homeland Security Management.
The board also presented a certificate to Officer First Class Nicholas T. Rhodes in recognition of his promotion to staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps effective Jan. 1, 2025. Chief Moore reviewed Rhodes’ Marine Corps and department record, including reenlistment in December 2024 and awards (Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal among others). Commissioners and members of the public praised the two honorees for their commitment to service.
No formal board action was required; the presentations were ceremonial acknowledgments of service.
