The award will fund a partnership in which an external community organization will hire and house the staff person who will provide housing navigation and resource connections for families affected by housing instability.
Administration said the district will serve as fiscal agent for the grant while a partner organization (Community Concepts, per administration) will employ the navigator. The grant is intended to expand the Student Resource Center’s capacity to help families secure stable housing and related services.
Committee members asked administrative clarifying questions: whether the employee would be a district employee (administration answered no, the staffer would be employed by the partner organization and paid from the grant), whether the grant was one-time (administration said it was a single-year award and future funding would require reapplication), and whether other districts received awards (several recipients received larger amounts). Members requested periodic updates on placements and program outcomes; administration agreed to provide updates and staffing details.
No vote was required; the committee received the update and asked for regular reporting on implementation and any successful placements achieved through the pilot.
