The Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) presented the final Pearland Transit Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study, concluding that multiple transit alternatives could meet parts of Pearland's travel demand but that each option carries trade-offs in cost, ridership and long-term subsidy requirements.
HGAC said Pearland's population growth and demographic trends (including increasing numbers of seniors and residents with disabilities) create demand for non-automobile mobility. The study drew on peer-city comparisons, prior plans and a community survey that drew roughly 2,300 respondents.
