TxDOT updates Beaumont council on ongoing and planned highway, interchange and frontage-road projects

TxDOT representatives gave the Beaumont City Council a progress briefing on several construction programs affecting the city and surrounding corridors, detailing completion targets, staging and expected traffic impacts.

- Cardinal Drive (Furniture Road) interchange and bridges over Hillebrand Bayou: Bridge columns and caps are being built; TxDOT projects this job will take roughly four-plus years to complete.

- Eastex interchange and I-69 connector: To install box culverts and drainage, TxDOT will temporarily reduce eastbound frontage lanes to one lane in a future phase; the agency will notify the city and public in advance.

- US 90 and other corridors: Planned shoulder paving, full-depth repairs and new signal installations are scheduled for US 90 to the county line; FM 365 bridge replacement (Roadair Gully) and drainage improvements are planned near Port Arthur.

- Local pedestrian/sidewalk work: College Street (between Pinchback and I-10) will receive pedestrian improvements (sidewalks and crosswalks) and is set to be let this week; frontage-road concrete reconstruction is scheduled later in the fiscal year.
