Council members confirmed the purchase is separate from the glass-crushing machine previously deployed at collection sites; the glass crusher suffered a catastrophic engine failure in November and is planned for replacement in fiscal 2026.
The motion to authorize the purchase was made and seconded; the scribe recorded the motion as passing unanimously. Council also heard thanks from a representative who toured the plant and praised the department's operations.
Purchasing staff will issue the purchase orders to EPAC Systems and coordinate delivery and installation. The expenditure was described in the agenda as a one-time purchase for estimated amount of $172,370 for the Environmental Services Department.
