Council approves City Hall renovation contract and AV/streaming technology package
Summary
The council authorized a construction contract with Tegrity Contractors and an AV/streaming contract with Data Projections for City Hall renovations and a new council workroom. Funding will come from previously reallocated cash; both votes were unanimous.
The Burleson City Council approved contracts to renovate City Hall, create a new council workroom with streaming and flexible meeting capabilities, and relocate several offices.
Staff recommended Tegrity Contractors for construction work after a competitive sealed proposal process and interviews. The council approved a construction contract with Tegrity for the base bid of $777,777 plus an alternate for bathroom renovations of $70,777 (total $848,554). The project scope includes HVAC upgrades, new HR and city secretary office areas, security upgrades and bathroom renovations; staff estimated completion by May 31, subject to equipment lead times.
Council also approved a technology contract with Data Projections (via TIPS) for meeting and streaming integrations and annual support in the amount of $132,953.32; that AV figure was the proposal item exceeding the city manager’s threshold and therefore required council approval. Total project funding is cash‑funded from earlier budget adjustments, including $800,000 moved from the gas royalty fund and previous rollovers, producing an available budget of $1,498,000 for construction, technology, furniture and related costs.
Deputy City Manager Eric Oskerson presented the competitive procurement summary and budget breakdown. The contracts passed unanimously; Adam Russell moved and Victoria Johnson seconded both approvals.
Work will begin following a Notice to Proceed planned for Jan. 27, and staff expects to return updates on schedule and any change orders as the project progresses.
