District construction update: welding addition, MEMS and Franklin School work continue

A district construction presenter showed photos and described work completed: the concrete slab for the welding addition, metal stud framing and rough mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) installations, HVAC ductwork and piping, and masonry block walls tied to foundations with rebar. The presenter said conduit and electrical feeds for heavy welding equipment were installed beneath the slab before concrete was poured, and that temporary heat and scaffolding were used to protect masonry and mortar during cold weather.
At FSO, installers were progressing from insulation to drywall and interior finish work; windows and storefront glass were scheduled to be installed next. On the MEMS renovation (Second Floor of the high school), the contractor had begun framing and rough‑ins; the work was being performed after school hours to avoid disrupting classes.
The presenter noted the schedule slipped because of cold weather but said the contract included weather days to recapture time. The board and staff credited Regency (the contractor) and district staff for salvaging reusable items such as doors and fixtures and for scheduling flexibility.
Board members said they had toured the space and described strong community interest in the new programs the construction will support, including welding classes and MEMS offerings. No formal action was taken at the meeting.
