The Pasco County School Board approved a consent-item increase for furniture purchases covering new-school furnishings, renovations and refreshes. District staff told the board that a significant portion of the expenditure increase will pay for classroom furniture refreshes at Lake Myrtle, Moon Lake and Chasco K–8, funded by the local Penny for Pasco sales-tax program.
A staff representative explained the line item covers classroom furniture for new schools, renovation projects and recurring refresh needs. The representative said the Penny for Pasco revenue allowed the district to fund full classroom refreshes at schools that have not had new furniture in more than 20 years.
Board members and staff framed the expenditures as aligning with public commitments made during the Penny for Pasco outreach and thanked voters for providing the funding stream. The consent motion to approve item 13.11 passed by voice vote.
No dollar totals or vendor names were read into the record at the meeting; board members said the packet contains further details for reference.
