The City of West Allis Public Safety Committee approved a seasonal temporary premise extension for Folly's Club, 8031 West Greenfield Avenue, allowing outdoor events from May 23 through Sept. 30 with a maximum of 75 decibels measured at 100 feet, the committee chair announced during the meeting.
Committee members said the extension was requested because the club seeks flexibility for rescheduled dates and to avoid conflicts with HarvestFest and several road races. One of the owners, speaking at the meeting as Mr. Budiak, said weather cancellations last year and multiple races made the extra weekend days helpful: "we had we didn't want people to die, so it was it was like a 110 out on our parking lot," he said, describing extreme heat in summer 2024.
The request followed actions the owners described as steps to reduce noise after complaints last year. One owner said they worked with the health department and changed staging and speaker placement, producing lower readings during hourly checks: "we took half this sub off, half that off, and it dropped the decimal level by like 9 points," the owner said. Alderman Halverson, who said he met the owners early in their tenure, praised the owners' response to neighbor complaints: "they've done above and beyond, I believe, in what we're putting in front of them to make sure that everybody's, you know, mostly everybody's happy."
The committee motion that passed included three conditions: the seasonal temporary premise extension dates from May 23 through Sept. 30 (2025); a sound limit of 75 decibels measured at 100 feet from the premises; and adherence to previously required permits and inspections. A motion to approve was made and seconded and carried by voice vote; individual vote tallies were not recorded in the public transcript.
Committee members asked the owners to continue prompt responses to any neighbor concerns and reiterated that enforcement would follow any future verified noise violations. The owners said they would continue hourly monitoring during events and work with sound technicians when hired.
The committee did not change the club's license type; the action covered only the seasonal temporary premise extension for outdoor events under existing licensing rules.
