The Napa County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a proclamation Feb. 4 recognizing February 2025 as Black History Month in Napa County.
Supervisor Gallagher read the proclamation, which called attention to the contributions of Black Americans to the county and nation and cited the 2025 theme, "African Americans and labor," noting historical figures named in the proclamation. Supervisor Gallagher invited representatives of Napa Valley Black History Month Committee and behavioral health staff to speak; JT (representing behavioral health and the Black History Month Committee) thanked the board, described the recent eighth annual local event and listed other community events and Juneteenth plans. The board encouraged residents to attend local Black History Month programs and community activities.
Action taken: Motion to approve the proclamation was made by Supervisor Ramos, seconded by Supervisor Alessio, and passed unanimously.
