Council approves camera and gate repairs, police vehicle trade-in and authorizes 11th Street sidewalk bid advertising

On Feb. 3 the Columbus City Council accepted vendor quotes for infrastructure and equipment work and authorized bid advertising for sidewalk improvements.
The council accepted a quote from SEI for $25,230.15 to upgrade the camera system at the North Water Treatment Plant. The council also accepted a quote from No Sweat Fencing Inc. for $13,895 to repair gates at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (CIP 25-46).
Separately, the council accepted a trade-in allowance of $18,000 from Clock Tower Auto Mall toward a police vehicle (CIP 21-8). Police officials said staff reviewed local lots and selected the best available deal; the chief described fleet-rotation practices and noted staff evaluate mileage and maintenance costs when disposing of vehicles.
The council also approved plans, specifications and an estimated cost of $250,000 and authorized staff to advertise for bids for the 11th Street sidewalk improvements under CDBG 23-DTR-3 (CIP 24-5). The engineering department has the plans and specifications on file.
All motions carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The quoted amounts and bid authorization are on file with the city clerk and engineering department.
