Court admits multiple wills, appoints executors and administrators in Fort Bend probate calendar

Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1 admitted several wills to probate and granted letters or letters of administration in multiple cases heard during the court's calendar. The judge signed orders admitting wills as muniments of title or probating them and appointed executors or administrators to serve without bond in each case.

The court admitted the last will and testament of Ming Chi Rebecca Man (executed May 6, 1997) and appointed Edward Yaho Wong (also known as Yaho Edward Wong) as independent executor to serve without bond; appraisers were waived. The court made the finding after Edward Wong testified to his mother's death, domicile in Fort Bend County, and that the will had not been revoked. As the judge said on the record, "The court will admit the will to probate and appoint Mister Edward Yaho Wong ... as independent executor to serve without bond and appraisers will be waived as well. The court also admitted the will of Ben Edward Carter (dated Oct. 13, 2023) and appointed Mary Janice Carter as independent executrix to serve without bond and waived appraisers. In a separate matter, the court admitted the will of Bobby Earl Mayan (will dated June 6, 2016), appointed Lauren Mayan as independent executrix to serve without bond, and waived appraisers. The court admitted the will of Jayadev Radhar Krishna (April 22, 2023) as a muniment of title after two witnesses testified and waived the affidavit of fulfillment.

Other probates and muniments handled or entered on the calendar included John Joseph Ikey (will dated Dec. 31, 1991) admitted as a muniment of title, with the court waiving the affidavit of fulfillment; and Roger Joseph Gamron (no will found) where the court determined heirs and later appointed Jacob Lawrence Gamron as independent administrator to serve without bond after proof that no will was found.

The court also handled determinations of heirship and administration in intestate matters. In the estate of Donna Jean Real the court found the heirship evidence sufficient, discharged the attorney ad litem, awarded an attorney fee, and appointed Monica Jean Rial as independent administratrix with authority to manage and distribute the estate without bond. In the case of Gwendolyn Widow the court determined heirs by clear and convincing evidence and appointed Agnes Sanders as independent administrator of the estate to serve without bond after testimony and citation of family history.

The court repeatedly waived appraisers where counsel asked and the estate was not taxable or the parties requested probate as a muniment of title. Attorneys who appeared were routinely discharged from ad litem duties and granted fees the court approved on the record.

Why it matters: probate and muniment orders clear title, allow executors or administrators to manage and distribute assets, and establish who has authority to settle decedents' affairs. The orders signed by the court will allow the named representatives to collect assets, pay debts, and distribute property under Texas probate procedures.
