Chase’s petitioner requested relief to install four wall signs where code typically allows two, and to place signs on the building’s west and south walls that do not face a public right-of-way. Planning staff explained the signs are intended to aid wayfinding for patrons inside the shopping center and that the Design Commission unanimously recommended approval.
Trustees asked about precedent; staff noted similar relief had been allowed for other tenants in the center, including AT&T and Verizon signage on interior-facing walls. Trustees also confirmed landscaping and sign placement would not obscure visibility for the proposed signs. Trustee Bertucci moved the directive; the board approved by voice vote. Final documents and permit language will be returned to the board for formal adoption.
