Transportation commission forwards 2025 roadway and community project priorities to city council; presses ACHD on interim signal at Locust Grove

Meridian — The Meridian Transportation Commission voted Feb. 3 to forward its 2025 roadway intersection and community program priority lists to City Council after a lengthy discussion about how to handle a cluster of projects and where interim fixes are appropriate.

Commissioners focused much of the debate on the Locust Grove/Amity corridor, urging ACHD to prioritize an interim signal at the problematic Locust Grove intersection while right‑of‑way and permitting discussions continue for a permanent solution.

The vote to recommend the prioritized lists to council passed on a motion by Commissioner Jared Smith, seconded by Commissioner Lewis; commissioners acted by voice vote and recorded no roll‑call tally. Earlier in the meeting the commission also adopted the meeting agenda and approved the Jan. 6, 2025 minutes by voice votes.
