The Plymouth Public Schools School Committee voted 4–1 at its Jan. 27 meeting to approve a proposed international field trip for Plymouth South High School students, presented as part of the school’s educational travel offerings. The trip — described by school staff as a multi-country European itinerary intended for juniors and seniors the next school year — carries an approximate per-student cost discussed by staff and committee members.
During the presentation, staff described efforts to lower the trip’s price by soliciting competitive bids from tour companies and by offering multiple fundraisers and payment-plan options. School staff said the anticipated total cost per student would be communicated at an upcoming parent meeting, and noted fundraising and payment plans (for example, monthly payments in the range of several hundred dollars) to reduce immediate out-of-pocket costs. The administration said they would privately discuss additional financial support for students in need when required.
Commissioner Robert Morgan moved to approve the field trip as presented; Miss Jackson seconded the motion. The committee recorded four votes in favor and one opposed; the motion passed. The vote authorizes the trip as presented and directs staff to proceed with trip logistics and parent communications.
