Tracy Shaner, deputy chief of the Idaho Division of Veterans Services, asked the Senate State Affairs Committee to send Senate Bill 1037 to the Senate floor with a do-pass recommendation, saying the bill contains "simple amendments and technical corrections" to Idaho Code section cited in testimony as 66906 and aligns succession-of-property rules for deceased residents of Idaho State Veterans Homes with Title 14, Chapter 5 (the Unclaimed Property Act) passed during the 2024 legislative session.
"These corrections change an incorrect code reference and removes obsolete language, which brings it into alignment with the current revised Title 14, Chapter 5, Idaho Code, concerning the Unclaimed Property Act that was passed during the 2024 legislative session," Shaner told the committee.
No members of the public were signed up to testify. Senator Harris moved, and Senator Adams seconded, that SB 1037 be sent to the Senate floor with a recommendation that it do pass. The motion was taken by voice vote; the chair called for ayes and said the motion carried.
