Director reports on payroll tax records, Minnesota Housing grant and childcare space at Pine Crest apartments

Staff announced that Minnesota Housing will open the housing-trust fund letter of intent on the coming Friday with a February 11 deadline; full applications open Feb. 12 and close March 19. Based on initial eligibility calculations, staff said the county intends to request $225,000, though competition means the final award is uncertain.
On a separate housing operations point, staff said the recently completed Pine Crest apartment building included two childcare units. The county has roughly $100,000 in awarded funding available to complete improvements for those childcare spaces, including an outdoor playground, a secure entry door and durable furnishings to help attract family childcare providers.
Ending: Staff said they will proceed with payroll reconciliation work, submit the Minnesota Housing letter of intent, and continue outreach to secure childcare providers for the Pine Crest space. No additional board action was required at this meeting.
