She offered examples the committee might consider, including reassignment of an employee to a similar-level position, pressing operational needs requiring immediate fill, disciplinary demotions or a new vacancy at the same organizational level within 45 days of a prior posting.
Superintendent Jasmine Williams asked whether the State School Boards Association provides model policies; Drain said the association and the district’s attorneys can supply sample language. Committee members emphasized the importance of transparency in postings, noting community concerns about openness in hiring.
The committee did not adopt changes during the meeting; Drain and staff offered to provide sample policies and recommended language for the board’s review. The item will return to the board for further consideration.
