Mark Paulus, the district’s owner’s representative, told trustees the construction plan reflects modifications made after staff observations during the first months of use.
Why it matters: The work is intended to improve vehicle flow and student safety during arrival and dismissal. Board members noted the project originated from a student-led effort to identify safety concerns in the ROMS parking and drop-off areas.
Funding and timing: Staff said the project will be paid from the district sinking fund and will begin immediately after the school year ends, with the goal of completing work before the 2025–26 school year starts.
Board action: Motion to authorize the superintendent to finalize and sign the contract with True North Asphalt for $989,365.50 with a 10% contingency was approved by roll-call vote.
