Planning commission re‑elects officers; minutes approved; staff reports renewable energy ordinance work

The Morrison County Planning Commission re‑elected officers for the current term, approved Nov. 26 minutes, and Land Services staff reported state‑funded work to update model renewable energy ordinances and an upcoming draft on biodigesters.
At the start of the meeting the Planning Commission held internal elections for its officers for the 2025 term. Commissioners nominated and voted to retain Clint Catherine as chair, Brent Lingren as vice chair and Marvin Bridal as secretary for the commission's current term. The nominations were made from the floor and approved by voice vote.
The commission then approved the minutes from its Nov. 26 meeting by motion and voice vote.
Under new business, Amy (Land Services staff) told commissioners she had discussed renewable‑energy siting with the County Board and that federal funds from the U.S. Department of Energy are being used in Minnesota through the Great Plains Institute to develop updated model ordinances for renewable energy siting. Amy said the zoning‑administrator group for the state is working with the institute to create consistency across Minnesota. She added Land Services will draft a standalone ordinance addressing biodigesters and bring that draft to the commission when completed.
No formal action was taken on renewable‑energy ordinances at the meeting; Amy said a draft ordinance for biodigesters will be presented to the commission when available.
The meeting adjourned following routine business.
